Well, the apartment blocks were originally called “Santa Cristina”. (They still are on the photographs on Google Maps). But they were built to be used by golfers on the attached golf course so it was decided that the golfing term “Birdie” was more suitable as a name than that of an Italian virgin martyr of the third century.

As the photo taken from the terrace seating of “Birdie 61BA” shows there are indeed golfers: for many of whom (especially inexperienced ones) the golf balls end up “lost” or in the ponds.
Many of the apartments have been bought by non-golfers who appreciate the views, the ambience and the comfort of these. A good proportion of them are being lived in throughout the year and not just for the odd fortnight or long weekend. (Note however that there are few amenties “on-site”)
